Power Up & Break Chains: Standing Together to Support Survivors & Raise Awareness

On January 24th, Tampa Bay Tattoo Removal had the profound honor of joining the Power Up & Break Chains human trafficking awareness event at the Franklin Boxing Gym in Tampa. Sponsored by Little Orphan Ashley in partnership with Franklin Boxing and ULOC of Tampa, this dynamic community gathering brought together local organizations, service providers, advocates, and compassionate neighbors united by a shared mission: to empower survivors of human trafficking and break the chains of exploitation.

A Community United for Change

The atmosphere at Franklin Boxing was inspiring; a blend of education, empowerment, and solidarity. Attendees participated in self-defense and situational awareness workshops, engaged with vendors providing critical support services, and connected with outreach programs aimed at prevention and healing. This event provided a platform where awareness became action and compassion became community.

As a provider of free tattoo removal services for human trafficking survivors and individuals reintegrating into society after incarceration, Tampa Bay Tattoo Removal was proud to be part of this powerful movement, even in a small  way. We had the opportunity to share our mission, answer questions, and truly listen; making meaningful connections with individuals and organizations dedicated to lifting up survivors and supporting pathways to a safer, brighter future.

The Purpose Behind Tattoo Removal for Survivors

For many survivors of human trafficking, tattoos are not merely ink, they can be painful reminders of past trauma, control, and stigma. Several nonprofit organizations around the country exist to support survivors by helping remove these visible marks and offering a renewed sense of dignity and opportunity.

Why Events Like This Matter

Human trafficking remains a pervasive global issue, affecting millions worldwide, often in hidden and devastating ways. Awareness events such as Power Up & Break Chains do more than just educate; they build community alliances, empower survivors, and bridge gaps between service providers and those seeking help.

As advocates and neighbors, our presence at these events reinforces a powerful message:

No one is alone in their healing journey, and the community stands with survivors.
