Consultation Policy
Our consultations are customized to each individual and their unique tattoo removal needs. Factors such as the tattoo’s age, color, depth, ink type, and your specific skin type are carefully evaluated to provide an accurate assessment of your tattoo removal journey. During the consultation, we will discuss your tattoo’s unique characteristics and what you can expect throughout the removal process.
Tattoo Removal Process Overview
Laser tattoo removal is a multi-step process that varies from person to person. The industry average for complete tattoo removal is between 5 and 12 sessions, depending on several factors. These include:
- The age of the tattoo (older tattoos may fade more quickly).
- The colors used (certain pigments like green and blue can take longer to remove).
- The depth of the ink in the skin. (below the Epidermis vs. Dermis; ink blowout)
- The type of ink used (professional vs. amateur tattoos).
- Skin type and the body’s natural healing response.
- The location of the tattoo (tattoos closer to the heart often heal faster due to better circulation).
It is important to note that while many tattoos fall within the 5-12 session range, some may require fewer or additional sessions based on the above variables. Additionally, visible fading occurs gradually over the course of multiple treatments, as the body’s immune system works to eliminate ink particles broken down by the laser.
Treatment of Minors
Tampa Bay Tattoo Removal may provide laser tattoo removal services to clients under 18 years of age only with the consent and involvement of a parent or legal guardian, subject to applicable Florida law and our practice policies.
As a condition of treatment, Tampa Bay Tattoo Removal requires:
- A parent or legal guardian to be physically present at the minor’s initial consultation and at every laser treatment appointment until the client reaches 18 years of age.
- The parent or legal guardian to provide a valid government-issued photo ID. Tampa Bay Tattoo Removal may also request documentation reasonably necessary to verify parental or legal guardianship.
- The parent or legal guardian to review and sign or co-sign all required intake, medical history, informed consent, treatment authorization, and other applicable documentation before treatment is performed.
- The minor client to participate in the consultation and consent/assent process as appropriate. Treatment will not be performed if the minor does not wish to proceed, regardless of parental or guardian authorization.
Written, verbal, or electronic permission from a parent or legal guardian does not replace our requirement that the parent or legal guardian be physically present for treatment.
Once a client reaches 18 years of age, parental or guardian consent and attendance are no longer required, and the client may complete and authorize their own treatment documentation.
Tampa Bay Tattoo Removal reserves the right to decline or postpone treatment of a minor when treatment is not considered appropriate or when identification, consent, guardianship, medical history, or other required documentation cannot be satisfactorily verified.
